What We Believe
- The entire Bible in its original writings has been verbally inspired by God. It is without error and the final authority in all matters of doctrine and Christian living. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21)
- There is one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; 1 Tim. 2:5; Eph. 4:4; 2 Cor. 13:14)
- Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is true God and true man. (Luke 1:35; Phil. 2:6-9; Rom. 1:3-4)
- All humans are, by nature, dead in sins, and are therefore totally unable to do anything pleasing to God. (Eph. 2:1-3; Rom. 3:9-12)
- God justifies sinners by his grace based on Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. This salvation is given as a gift from God, accepted by faith apart from any work on our part. (Rom. 3:24-28; 5:1,9; Eph. 2:8-9)
- All of the saved are eternally secure in Christ. (Col. 3:1-4; Phil. 1:6; Rom. 8:1,29-34,38-39; Jn. 10:27-29; Eph. 1:13-14)
- In this age there is one true Church, known in Scripture as the Body of Christ, made up of all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ as personal Savior. This Body of Christ began with the ministry of the Apostle Paul. (1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 1:22-23; 3:2-6; Col. 1:25-27)
- Every member of the Body of Christ has been given one or more gifts for the purpose of serving the Lord. God’s intent is that every believer be involved in service. The miraculous sign gifts were part of God’s special relationship with Israel, and have thus been set aside. The gifts of prophecy and knowledge were withdrawn with the completion of the New Testament. (Rom. 12:4-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-7; 1 Cor. 1:22; 13:8-11)
- The Lord’s Supper, or Communion, is for members of the Body of Christ to observe “until he comes.” (1 Cor. 10:16-21)
- All believers are baptized by the Holy Spirit into the Body of Christ at the time of their salvation. This is the one baptism that God has given for this age. (Eph. 4:5; 1 Cor. 12:13)
- Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead and made possible the resurrection of all who believe in him. All members of the Body of Christ will be resurrected at the Rapture. Then, following the Tribulation, Christ will return to earth to set up the Millennial Kingdom promised to Israel. (1 Cor. 15:1-8,20-23; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Zech. 14:4-9; Acts 1:10-11; Rev. 19:11-16; 20:4-6)
- All the saved will spend eternity in God’s presence with resurrected bodies. All unbelievers will spend eternity in a state of conscious suffering. (1 Cor. 15:40-42,52-54; Phil. 3:21)
- The mission of the Body of Christ is to spread the good news of salvation through Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. This includes those living in places with no local witness to the gospel. (1 Cor. 15:3-4; 2 Cor. 5:14-20)
